Presentations To Clare’s Homeless Action Team Hit Record Highs In September

MidWest Simon claims the lack of financial supports in budget 2024 will leave scores of struggling families in Clare in crisis.

Last month, 296 households presented to the local authority’s homeless action team, the highest figure recorded in the county so far this year.

As part of budget 2024, the renters tax credit has been increased from €500 to €750, however the total rebate for electricity bills has fallen by €150.

 

MidWest Simon CEO Jackie Bonfield believes the short sighted approach will exacerbate demand for emergency accommodation.
