A Sixmilebridge councillor insists he’ll accept nothing less than a complete disbandment of GAAGo from an upcoming review of the service.

It follows a call issued recently by Clare County Council for the government to intervene with RTÉ and the GAA to ensure future inter-county championship matches are made available to watch on TV instead behind a paywall on the controversial subscription-based service.

In a meeting of the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee, both RTÉ and the GAA have confirmed a thorough review of GAAGO is to be conducted in the near future.

Sixmilebridge Fine Gael Councillor John Crowe says it’s unjust for lifelong GAA supporters to now be forced to pay to view matches.
