Ennis Principal Believes Reforms Haven’t Diminished The Importance Of Junior Cert

An Ennis principal believes recent changes to the Junior Cycle haven’t diminished the importance of the exams.

This afternoon, over 70,000 students nationwide will receive their Junior Cert Results, with over 1,600 of these in Clare schools.

It’s just the second year that all candidates have sat their exams under the fully-reformed Junior Cycle curriculum which has brought changes to how subjects are assessed, with a greater emphasis on continuous assessment than traditional exams.

Principal of Ennis Community College, Brian O’Donoghue, says that in spite of the new approach to assessment, the results hold the same signifiance they always have.
