University Hospital Limerick is more overcrowded than the next two busiest facilities combined this morning.

The Irish Nurses And Midwives Organisation recorded 77 patients on trolleys in Dooradoyle during this morning’s rounds.

Although this represents a 24% reduction on the number of patients waiting without a bed at UHL on this day last week, the figure is still more than the sum of 39 patients waiting at Cork and St.Vincent’s University Hospital.

It comes on a day when 390 patients are without a hospital bed nationwide.
