The proprietor of a beloved Clare institution has expressed gratitude for having the opportunity to serve his community for almost 50 years.

It’ll soon be last call at Power’s Pub in Clarecastle for the final time as the 150-year-old establishment goes on the market.

The pub has been popular amongst the people of Clarecastle and beyond since it first opened its doors in 1872, and has been in the Power family for three generations.

John Power, who’s been running the pub since 1978, says playing a part in important community and family occasions was one of the greatest joys of his time behind the bar.
