Clare County Council had the eighth lowest dwelling completion rate of any local authority in the country between July and September.

New figures from the CSO indicates there were just four counties in which fewer apartments were constructed than in this county in the third quarter of the year.

The Central Statistics Office’s “New Dwellings Completions” report for the period between July and September reveals construction concluded on 96 dwellings in this county in those months.

This gives Clare the eighth lowest completion rate in the country.

However, this is up 16% on the 83 completed dwellings from the previous quarter.

The Local Electoral Area of Killaloe saw the most homes built, with 33, followed by Ennis with 20, Kilrush with 19, Ennistymon with 15 and finally Shannon with just 9.

More single houses were built here in the last quarter than any other dwelling type with construction being completed on 66 such developments.

29 scheme houses saw completion while just two apartments were finished, giving Clare the third lowest apartment completion rate nationwide.

Looking at the national picture, 8,452 homes were completed between July and September which is up 14% on the same period last year.
