The Midwest Hospital Campaign Group is calling on Clare TDs and senators to show their support ahead of the group’s appearance before a government committee next week.

The campaign group, which submitted a petition signed by 15,000 people last June calling for the re-opening of emergency departments at Ennis, Nenagh and St. John’s Hospitals, will be appearing before the Oireachtas Committee on Public Petitions on this day next week.

It comes as the number of admitted patients waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick broke 100 for the first time in over two weeks yesterday, with 106 on trolleys there today, according to INMO figures.

Ballyvaughan-based Midwest Hospital Campaign Group Spokesperson, Noeleen Moran feels the Oireachtas committee appearance is an important opportunity because Clare’s government representatives have failed to effect positive change thus far.
