Munster Senior Football Club Championship Quarter-Final Cratloe 0-11 – Castlehaven 1-12

Cratloe’s provincial campaign has come to an end this afternoon following a titanic tussle with Cork Champion’s Castlehaven in Pairc Uí Caoimh.

Coming into the fixture as underdogs, Colm Collin’s charges came out of the traps with a firm intention to upset the odds.

After just two minutes Conal O’Hanlon split the posts for the South-East Clare outfit and followed by efforts from Enda Boyce, Diarmuid Ryan and O’Hanlon again saw the sides deadlocked at the break at 0-04 apiece.

For the Cork men, county specialists Brian Hurley, Jack Cahalane and Mark Collins led the charge with the former registering five points by the end of regulation time.

It was nip and tuck in the closing stages however as with the clock approaching 59 minutes, Hurley kicked the point that just about cleared Padraig Chaplin’s crossbar and sent the side into 0-08 to 0-07 lead and appeared to be the winner.

However David Collins and Enda Boyce would both kick pressure cooker points for Cratloe in the closing stages, in between a Mark Collins effort for their opponents to send the tie to extra-time.

The sides then renewed hostilities for two periods of extra-time, however a Robbie Minihane goal just seven minutes in would ultimately prove to be the decisive score as Castlehaven ran out winners on a full-time score of 1-12 to 0-11.

Elsewhere in Killnamartrya, Kilmihil commenced their Munster Intermediate club championship campaign against the respective Cork Champions.

A haul of 0-09 for Cill na Martra wing forward Daniel Ó Duinn and a green flag for centre-forward Ciarán Ó Duinnín proved decisive for the rebel county outfit who emerged victorious on a score-line of 1-17 to 0-07.
