Gardaí are appealing to motorists in Clare to drive with extra care, as storm weather continues to batter the county.

Storm Jocelyn is following hot on the heels of Storm Isha, with a yellow weather alert now in place in this county until the early hours of tomorrow morning.

A separtate orange wind alert is in place for Galway, Mayo and Donegal.

Met Éireann is warning of large coastal waves with overtopping, difficult travelling conditions and debris or loose objects displaced.

Garda Albert Hardiman from the Crime Prevention Office in Ennis is appealing to road users to be extra vigilant when travelling over the next few days.

“In light of the recent storms and three recent road fatalities, Gardai are asking all road users to be mindful of debris which may be on the road and to drive with extra caution,” Garda Hardiman concluded.
