The Clare-based president of the ASTI insists schools must be provided with resources to monitor online bullying.

As of this week, schools are required to note all incidents of bullying behaviour which involves recording the nature of the offence, the approach taken to address it and the outcome.

Minister for Education Norma Foley has also invited representatives from Meta, TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) to a roundtable discussion on online safety for young people next month.

ASTI President and St. Joseph’s Kilkee Community College teacher Geraldine O’Brien says when it comes to tackling online bullying, an initiative is only as strong as the resources granted to implement it.
