The Minister for Sport and Physical Education says Government funding won’t be provided for facilities in Clare and elsewhere in the future, unless there’s equal access for men and women.

Thomas Byrne is visiting the county today for the first time as Minister, with his primary focus on a meeting with Clare GAA, LGFA and Camogie.

The Minister will also be engaging with soccer and rugby clubs in the county and canvassing with Fianna Fáil’s three candidates in the Shannon Electoral area.

Today’s visit is in response to a request from Clare GAA, but the Minister will be meeting all three codes together. He says it’s important that the county’s sports facilities are available to everyone.
