Clare Garda Units Working Together To Track Down Perpetrators Behind Spate Of Burglaries

Gardaí are reassuring that units from Ennis, Shannon and Ennistymon are working together to identify those behind a spate of burglaries at homes and commercial properties in the county.

Three homes in the Dysart, Ennis and Crusheen areas were targetted on Thursday and Friday evening last and Gardaí say while no-one was injured in any of the incidents, a burglary can have a significant impact on those living there.

Ennistymon Gardaí are investigating a burglary that occurred in the Carhue area of Dysart on Thursday evening between 5pm and 6pm. Gardaí are aware that a large number of local people were attending a funeral on Thursday evening and may have seen a vehicle in the Carhue area. Ennis Gardaí are investigating a burglary that occurred in the Collins Park estate on Friday evening between 6pm and 8.30pm.

The perpetrators gained access by forcing a window to the front of the property.

A number of items were taken including sentimental jewellery, a wedding band and an engagement ring.

Ennis Gardaí are also investigating a burglary that occurred in the Inchcronan estate in Crusheen on Friday evening between 8pm and 10pm.

The perpetrator forcibly gained entry via the rear of the property and a number of items were taken including JBL wireless headset.

In the early hours of Friday morning, meanwhile, four commercial properties in the Shannon, Ennis and Killaloe areas were targetted by criminals.

Garda Eimear McDonagh, from the Crime Prevention Office at Ennis Garda Station said “these burglaries appear to be linked as we believe the same type of vehicle appears to have been used in Shannon, Ennis and Killaloe/Ballina.

“This vehicle is described as a Skoda estate type of vehicle with a roof rack”.

Shannon Gardaí are investigating two burglaries that occurred at approximately 1am on Friday morning.

The first burglary was a commercial premises in the Drumgeely area.

The second burglary was at a commercial premises in the Shannon Town Centre. CCTV shows three males entering the premises.

Gardaí are investigating two burglaries that occurred on the Limerick Road in Ennis at 1.40am on Friday morning.

These two commercial properties were entered and Gardaí are appealing to anyone that may have seen two males on the Limerick Road at this time.

A commercial premises at the shopping centre, Convent Hill was forcefully entered at approximately 3am on Friday morning in Killaloe. Three males are believed to be involved in this crime.

A second commercial premises was forcibly entered at approximately 3.25am on Friday morning on the Main Street in Ballina.
