Fresh anger has been expressed over what’s been described as a “third-world water supply” in parts of West and North Clare.

It comes amid reports of discolouration and foul odour in the water supply in Quilty, and part of West Clare today and yesterday.

Quilty native and Clare Beef Plan Chair, Joseph Woulfe has been telling Clare FM’s Sean Lyons that he believes water-related issues are happening too often here and those responsible must be held to account.

Separately, residents and business owners in Lahinch, Liscannor, Ennistymon and surrounding areas have been warned by Uisce Éireann to expect ongoing disruption to their water supply today, as works continue to repair a burst main.

In a statement to Clare FM meanwhile, Uisce Éireann says “crews have been able to reconfigure the network to maintain supply to the majority of customers in Lahinch, Liscannor and Ennistymon and repair works are continuing today to fix the burst”.

The utility is advising “customers who experience issues with discolouration to run the cold water tap in the kitchen for a few minutes”.
