A former Mayor of Ennis claims a perceived lack of parking in the county town is no excuse for drivers to park on footpaths.
Clarecastle Councillor Paul Murphy has called on Clare County Council to sign up to the “Think Before You Park” campaign in a bid to warn motorists of the hazards and obstructions caused by improper parking.
Figures released by the local authority recently show the number of parking spaces in Ennis has fallen by 9% since 2008.
Fine Gael Councillor Murphy however believes there’s no shortage of designated places in Ennis for people to leave their vehicles.
