Around 30 road safety advocacy bodies have declared no confidence in the Road Safety Authority (RSA) following a spate of deaths in the first quarter of this year.

A jointly-signed statement has been released by the various bodies, including multiple cycling and pedestrian organisations from across the country. In the statement, the groups say they have lost confidence in the RSA, which they say is no longer fit for purpose”.

This comes as the Department of Transport is conducting a review of the RSA to ensure it is “fit for purpose”.

To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Helga Himmelsbach, Ballyvaughan-based widow of a road crash victim and Síle Ginnane, Co-Founder of Better Ennis.
