47% Increase In International Protection Applicants Living In Clare

The number of International Protection Applicants living in Clare has soared over the past twelve months.

New figures from the Department of Integration show that 907 such Asylum Seekers are now being accommodated in this county.

Its an increase of 47% from the 614 International Protection Applicants who were living here at this juncture of last year.

 

While awaiting decisions on applications to either be declared a refugee or granted permission to remain on humanitarian grounds, IPA’s are entitled to accommodation, food, medical care and legal aid.

Clare is now hosting the tenth highest total of International Protection Applicants nationwide.
