Regeneration works in an East Clare town worth almost €4 million have been put out to tender.
The development will form part of the €11 million Scariff Integrated Rural Generation Project which received a significant Government funding boost last month.
Clare County Council has commenced the tender process for the first phase of a long-awaited regeneration project in Scariff.
The tender, which is worth €3.7 million, applies to the refurbishment of the former Supermac’s and Merriman Tavern buildings, construction of a public car park on the adjacent green field site and connection to existing on-site services.
The local authority has given July 7th as the day tenders received will be opened, with the chosen tender valid for 180 days and the contract lasting for 12 months.
It comes just weeks after Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys announced during her visit to Clare that €8.7 million in Government funding will go towards the Scarriff Integrated Rural Regeneration Project.
The project, which is estimated to cost just shy of €11 million in total, also includes public realm works in the Market Square and the construction of a multi-service innovation and engagement hub, with the latter to go into the refurbished derelict buildings.
