A Kilmurry-Ibrickane councillor claims the tourism industry in West Clare needs investment ‘like any other industry’.
At this week’s meeting of the West Clare Municipal District, there were calls made to provide greater support to the prevention of litter in the towns of Quilty and Mullagh, as well as at Seafield Pier and the local beaches
At present, the Council has four full-time operatives and four part time operatives working to keep the towns and beaches in pristine condition, with the hope that this will be increased from next year on.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Shannon, believes keeping the area clean will result in an increase in tourist footfall in the area.
