The average price of a house in Shannon has risen by over €50,000 in the last year.
Prices across the county are continuing to rise unabated while sales appear to be taking a hit.
In the year leading up to May, the average price paid for a dwelling in this county was €250,000.
When compared to the same month last year when the average was €235,000, it indicates an increase of 6%.
Soaring prices appear to be a particular problem in the industrial town of Shannon where prices have jumped by 33% in twelve months from €177,000 to an alarming €235,000.
The regions of Ennis and Kilrush don’t appear to be immune to this issue however – with the average prices there in the year to May being €260,000 and €195,000, respectively.
With prices increasing across the county, sales are seeing a noticeable reduction.
Just 70 sales were executed countywide in May which is 20% below the same month in 2023 were 89 were completed.
34 sales were recorded in Ennis, indicating a drop of 39%, while seven were executed in Shannon in both May of this year and last year.
Kilrush meanwhile recorded 19 sales which was seven above the 12 in May 2023.
