It’s claimed Clare’s disability community is being stripped of independence and social opportunities due to public transport deficits for wheelchair users.

It follows concerns raised by the Clare Leader Forum over members missing out on services over inaccessible bus stops, making it impossible to board coaches.

Additionally, TFI Local Link and Bus Eireann vehicles operating in this county are only equipped with one designated wheelchair space.

Shannon based Clare Leader Forum Chairperson and Irish Wheelchair Association Board member Padraic Hayes says the National Transport Authority needs to rectify the issues as the current situation is causing serious complications.
