Teen Accosted And Robbed At ATM After Getting Of Bus In Ennis

Clare Gardaí have launched an investigation after a teenager was accosted and robbed by two males after getting off a bus in Ennis on Saturday.

At approximately half past twelve, an 18 year-old male was approached by two males unknown to him in Ennis Town Centre who followed him and demanded money.

The suspects, who were wearing dark puffer jackets, later took the injured party’s ATM card and walked him to the ATM at Bank Place, before forcing him to enter his pin and withdraw money from his account.

Clare Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Catríona Holohan has this appeal for information.

“Ennis Gardaí are appealing to the public for their assistance in this crime. An 18 year old male was approached by two males that were not known to him after he got off the bus in Ennis town centre at approximately half past twelve on Friday night / Saturday morning.

Two males then followed this young man and demanded money from him. They took his ATM card and walked with him to the AIB atm on Bank Place. They forced the injured party to enter his pin number and they withdrew money from his account.

The injured party ran and stopped a passing taxi at approximately 5 to 1 on Saturday morning. The taxi driver took him home. The injured party described the perpetrators as two males dressed in black puffa jackets.
