Lissycasey manager Aidan “Horse” Moloney admits there was a lot to like about the manner in which his side got off to a winning start in this years TUS Clare senior football championship.

A brace of goals from county star Shane Griffin helped them overcome neighbours Kilmihil, with the result now putting them in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stages.

Up next will be a showdown with Moloney’s home club of Kilmurry Ibrickane in two weeks time, where victory would guarantee their passage to a quarter-final.

The 1992 Munster championship winner says they will be working hard to continue raising their own standards for the next two weeks

Meanwhile Ennistymon are also off to a winning start after they battled to victory over Doonbeg.

The North Clare men had to come from six points to eventually win by two, thanks in part to a classy goal from Diarmuid Fahy.

Manager Ger Quinlan was pleased with how his side responded to a slow start
