Update:
8.20pm – The L4114 road at Kilbreckan, Doora has reopened after the earlier incident.
The old Clarecastle to Doora road is currently closed while fire crews deal with a vehicle fire.
The L4114 at Kilbreckan, between junction 12 of the M18 and Doora Church is expected to reopen within the hour.
A motorist travelling along the roadway raised the alarm after he found that his vehicle was on fire. He managed to stop his car on the roadway and escape uninjured.
Two units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station responded to the incident along with Gardaí.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus quickly set about dealing with the blaze however the vehicle was destroyed.
The road remains block but will reopened once the vehicle has been safely removed from the scene.
