Uisce Eireann has dispatched expert repair crews to West Clare amid renewed water outages in the region.

The supply disruptions are affecting Miltown Malbay, Spanish Point, Quilty, Mullagh, Coore, Cooraclare, Mullagh and surrounding areas.

A burst watermain on the line is the cause of the issue and the utility is expecting to complete the repairs by 5pm today and a traffic management plan will be in place throughout.

Following repair works, it typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground.

Uisce Éireann’s Darragh Conneely says every effort is being made to carry out repairs as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our crews work to ensure that a normal water supply is returned to all of our customers as quickly as possible.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
