Only a dozen patients were left waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick this morning.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show trolley numbers at the region’s main hospital have hit a low unseen since the pandemic this week.

It comes in the wake of a decision two weeks ago to cancel scheduled care indefinitely at the UL Hospitals Group’s six Midwest facilities, in response to a surge in overcrowding.
