Clare Has 5th Lowest Total Of GPs Nationwide

The government is facing calls to urgently ramp up efforts to recruit GPs in Clare.

New figures from the Irish College of General Practitioners show this county has the joint-fifth lowest total of practicing GPs nationwide.

There are currently just 83 GPs operating in Clare, which works out as one doctor for every 1,535 people.

 

GP at Ennis Medical Centre Dr Máire Finn says patient outcomes will inevitably suffer if the situation doesn’t improve.
