Clare County Council admits “a lot more needs to be done” to improve legacy traffic and transport issues in North Clare.

The North Clare Integrated Transport and Traffic Plan has been devised this year with the aim of addressing issues such as congestion, noise pollution and speeding which have been experienced in the region for many years.

Among the measures introduced as part of the plan are a counter-clockwise traffic management system on the R477 coastal road, improved signage and lighting as well as appointing tourist ambassadors to advise satellite navigation operators such as Google Maps of the best routes to take.

Acting Senior Executive Officer of the North Clare Local Electoral Area John Corry believes the region’s roads network can be made safer while tourism is also promoted.
