The number of Irish people leaving Ireland has reached its highest point in almost a decade.

Figures from the Central Statistics Office show that more than 69,000 people emigrated from Ireland in the 12 months to April, compared with 64,000 in the same period of 2023.

This is the highest emigration figure since 2015.

For more on this, Alan Morrissey spoke with Sarah Mulcahy who is from Shannon and is currently living in Australia.
