Thomond Park played host to a unique charity fundraiser over the weekend.
An abseiling event took place on Friday to raise funds for the Mid-Western Cancer Centre at UHL in honour of Mairead Cleary Keniry, with over €23,000 having been raised so far on the GoFundMe page.
More than 20 of Mairead’s family and friends made the descent from the top of Thomond Park to the pitch below where more of her family watched on.
Kayla Murtagh, the fundraiser’s organiser, said an abseil was the perfect way to honour Mairead, who had previously organised her own charity abseiling event.
