Average incomes in Clare are more than €6,000 less than in Dublin.
New CSO figures have found that typical disposable income levels here grew last year, but remain the lowest in Munster.
The figures estimate disposable income per person – this is a person’s annual income after income tax and social insurance.
Last year in Clare, that figure rose by €440 to €18,145, the highest recorded here since 2012.
However, it’s still nearly €4,300 less than the figure for Clare a decade ago, and €6,300 less than the figure for Dublin now.
In fact, the figure for County Clare trails the national average by around €2,500, and is higher than only eight other counties.
