The Shannon-based President of Active Retirement Ireland is warning hotels they are in danger of losing a €13 million customer base if they don’t remove the single supplement.
The surcharge for travellers occupying a hotel room on their own can be up to €30 a night, which the organisation has labelled completely unfair.
A report carried out by Active Retirement has found that retirees are worth €13 million a year to Irish hotels, with 81% of pensioners taking two or more trips in the past 12 months.
