The HSE has said “many” people have been asked to self-isolate in a bid to halt the spread of COVID-19.
It’s after the first cluster of cases was found among four people in Clare.
This afternoon’s HSE briefing in Dublin was dominated by the coronavirus, after last night’s confirmation of four cases.
There’s still no official confirmation that the cases are in Clare, although this is the case, and a number of schools in the North-West of the county are affected.
The four people who have tested positive are receiving treatment in hospital, and efforts to contact people with whom they came into contact are continuing
This process is not without its difficulties, according to HSE DG Paul Reid.
***
Many of the details at this briefing remained somewhat vague.
There was no confirmation on how many schools were closed, on whether other public facilities were affected, or on exactly how many people have been asked to self-isolate, although this was described as ‘many’ people.
When asked if the HSE is being too vague, Paul Reid gave this defence.
