The Emergency Department at the region’s main hospital remains extremely busy, as the weekend fast approaches.
The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 106 patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 45 of those on trolleys in the ED.

The overall figure is more than double that of the next busiest facility; Cork University Hospital and represents a quarter of all admitted patients waiting for beds at hospitals across the country today.
