Clare SVP Claims Most Vulnerable Households Still Sidelined

The Clare branch of Saint Vincent De Paul claims there is still miles of ground to cover to eradicate child poverty.

The government has introduced a suite of measures in this years package, involving the expansion of child benefit to eighteen year olds in full time education and a double payment ahead of Christmas.

However the qualified child allowance which is allocated to those in the most severe threshold of poverty has only increased by €4 per week.

Clare SVP President Denis Carthy has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan that many households will still be facing into detrimental conditions.
