Elderly People In Meelick Speeding Hotspot Said To Be “Putting Their Lives In Danger”

Elderly people living in a speeding hotspot on the Clare-Limerick border are said to be “putting their lives in danger” every day.

Sixmilebridge Independent Councillor PJ Ryan has called on Killaloe Municipal District to install traffic calming measures and look into reducing the speed limit on the Phayers Road in Limerick, where it’s believed drivers are routinely travelling in excess of 100km per hour.

In response, Killaloe Municipal District has advised that any member of the public can submit a speed limit appeal to Clare County Council if they think the speed limit on a route is unsafe.

Councillor PJ Ryan believes installing traffic calming measures on the Phayers Road is a no-brainer as driver behaviour doesn’t appear to be changing.
