The Department of Integration has confirmed its not currently considering an offer from a West Clare provider to host Ukrainian refugees.
Last June, the board of Coláiste Uí Chomhraidhe in Carraigaholt entered discussions with the local authority with a view to repurposing the building for Asylum Seeker accommodation for up to five years.
An offer was later submitted by the school under the Emergency Refurbishment Ukraine Programme.
But in a written response to Scariff Independent Deputy Michael McNamara this week, Integration Minister Roderic O’Gorman confirmed that Carrigaholt Irish College is not under consideration for refugee accommodation use.
