Claims Stark Population Growth Figures Underpin Need For Age-Friendly Developments In Clare

The Clare Older People’s Council insists stark figures indicating projected population growth underpins the need to ensure adequate services for older people into the future.

Supported by the local authority as part of the Clare Age Friendly County Programme, the voluntary group aims to bring the voice of older people into local government and help inform private and public service provision.

The voluntary group is holding its Annual General Meeting next Tuesday from 11am to 1pm, in the Buttermarket Buiding in Drumbiggle, Ennis.

 

CSO figures predict the number of people aged 65 years and older will double to 1.6 million by 2051 and PRO of the Clare Older People’s Council, Madge O’Callaghan says it’s vital an age-friendly approach is taken towards developing services.
