Former Temple Gate Owner Hopeful New Proprietors Appreciate Employee Culture Established At Hotel

The former owner of an Ennis hotel is hopeful its new proprietors will allow the culture fostered there over an almost 30-year period to continue into the future.

The Madden family’s 28-year-long tenure of the Temple Gate Hotel has come to an end followed its sale to Dermot Kelly and John Gavan of the Shannon Springs chain.

The building of the old Convent of Mercy was bought by the late John Madden and family in 1996 and subsequently grew into the 70-bedroom Temple Gate Hotel before being taken up by John’s son Paul.

Paul Madden, who’s also well known in the county town as the manager of the Eire Óg football team, says it was important to him that the new owners appreciated the contribution of staff members who’ve worked in the hotel for many years.
