Organisations in Clare have received €45,000 in Government funding for the upgrade and development of outdoor walking trails.
The Department of Rural and Community Development has announced an investment of over €1 million in 517 walking trails nationwide, with the funding to go towards the cost of purchasing equipment, small scale maintenance as well as marketing or promotion.
The biggest beneficiary in this county is Clare Walks Limited which has received €25,000 to go towards the five trails under its management.
O’Briensbridge Community Group and Doonbeg Community Development have been allocated €4,000 a piece while Ballyvaughan Community Development Group and Lough Avalla Farm have each been given €2,500.
A funding boost €1,500 each meanwhile has been granted to Kilkishen Tidy Towns Committee and Lissycasey Cascades and Historical Society.
