No Reduction in Clare’s Homeless Figures

No reduction has been seen in the number of people living in homelessness in Clare within the last month.

The Department of Housing’s monthly homeless report shows the number of Clare residents who availed of emergency accommodation in August remained 15% above the figure for the same month in 2023.

In the week of the 22nd to the 28th of August, 14,486 people were living in emergency accommodation in Ireland which was 57 more than in July.

Of those included in the data, 10,067 were adults and 4,419 were children.

In Clare, the number of people in emergency accommodation was 75 for the second successive month which is 15% more than the figure for August last year.

Across the entire Midwest region, the number of people in homelessness was 522 which is an increase of five on the previous month, and accounts for 5% of the total figure nationwide.

There were 182 children availing of emergency accommodation in the Midwest in August which despite being below the figure for July, was 31% above August 2023 levels.
