Supermac’s Boss Says Ennis Plaza Will Open Next Year

The Owner of Supermac’s says the High Court’s decision to quash a legal challenge stalling plans for a motorway plaza in Ennis is more important than the company’s recent trademark victory against McDonalds.

The dismissal of a judicial review on Friday brings an end to a ten-year planning saga and will allow the indigenous fast food chain to press ahead with a new facility just off junction 12 on the M18 near Doora.

It’s expected the plaza will now cost up to €15m to build and will employ 120 people when finished next year, while the construction phase due to begin in January will create a further 100 jobs.

Supermac’s Managing Director Pat McDonagh says the battle has been worthwhile.
