A mass demonstration will take place in Shannon tomorrow with the aim of pressuring the Government to take further action to secure peace in the Middle East.
The protest will be held at the entrance to Shannon Airport at 1pm and will centre on support for Irish neutrality and opposition to the use of the base by the US military to transport weapons and soldiers.
In a statement to Clare FM, the Department of Foreign Affairs says “all foreign military aircraft wishing to overfly or land in the State are required, without exception, to obtain diplomatic clearance”, with one of the stipulations being that “it carries no arms, ammunition or explosives.
