New 5 Year Clare Sports Plan Will Aim To Improve Facilities And Participation In All Communities

A new strategic five year sports plan for Clare will open to public consultation next month.

The draft framework for this county’s 2024 to 2028 strategy has revealed that 40% of the local population identified a lack of facilities as a barrier to participating in sport and physical activity.

The plan has set out nine key priorities and will aim to grow minority sports, address the high-levels of drop-off in teenage girls and increase the availability of multi-sport community hubs through sharing agreements at existing grounds.

Director of Research and Innovation at Sport Ireland Benny Cullen says the plan’s success will require improvements across all sectors in Clare.

And you can hear more on this on Clare FM’s Morning Focus this Wednesday from 9am.
