Morning Focus – Tuesday 22/08/17

Tuesday’s Morning Focus covered a lively mix of chat, news and views, with advice on everything from animal care to handling stress.

The show opened with a discussion with Clare’s Independent TD, Dr Michael Harty, of comments made this week by the junior minister at the Department of Health. Minister for State Jim Daly accused the health unions of hampering reform and Gavin asked Dr Harty what his views were, as Chairperson of the Joint Committee on Health.

Eddie Punch, the General Secretary of the Irish Cattle and Sheep Association (ICSA) was Gavin’s next guest. That organisation is concerned that tolls on commercial vehicles are deterring farmers from using motorways and forcing more traffic onto back-roads.

If you bought a Lotto ticket in Ennis on June 13, the advice from Gavin’s next guest was to check it. That’s because a prize of €500,000 is unclaimed after a winning ticket was sold in Hogan’s Service Station on the Gort Road. The winner has until September 11 to come forward as Fran Whearty told Gavin.
