Architect McNamara Calls For Pilot Scheme To Boost Town Centres

An internationally renowned North Clare architect has suggested that a pilot scheme be put in place to examine how best to rejuvenate the centres of towns and villages.

Shelley McNamara from Lisdoonvarna is one of the founders of Grafton Architects, which has won numerous honours including the 2008 World Building of the Year Award for a University in Milan.

She was also recently named as one of five Cultural Ambassadors for Ireland, alongside the likes of actress Ruth Negga and musician Martin Hayes.

She’s given her thoughts on one way in which more people could be encouraged to set up homes in the large number of disused residences that are above shops and in the centres of our towns.

You can hear more from Shelley McNamara on Clare FM’s Morning Focus from 9.
