Further delays to Ennis Water Treatment Plant

Clare County Council is coming under increasing pressure to take action following further problems with the vital testing of the new Ennis Water Treatment plant.

Due to a mechanical fault the second phase of commissioning had to be abandoned at the end of July and the council were forced to revert back to the interim plant in Drumcliffe for 12 days.

A number of issues still have to be resolved before the testing phase can begin again so the plant won’t be deemed fully operational for at least another 6 weeks.

Ennis Fine Gael Councillor Johnny Flynn has expressed his concerns about the plant in the past and has described this latest delay as a blow to the confidence of the public in the 9 million euro facility.
