The level of emergency medical cover in North Clare is set to be boosted.

Three additional paramedic have been assigned to the ambulance service to cover the region.

The extra resources have been announced for the HSE’s Ambulance Station in Ennistymon in a bid to enhance the level of cover provided in the area.

According to the HSE’s Chief Ambulance Officer in County Clare, the additional paramedics will reduce on call hours for Paramedics from 96 to 12 hours per week and will greatly improve response times to emergencies in North Clare.

Local TD and Junior Minister Tony Killeen has welcomed the additional resources and the fact that many ambulance personnel have now been trained to Advanced Paramedic level.

While local Fianna Fail Councillor Richard Nagle says the extra staff are vital, particularly for residents in the most remote parts of North Clare
