Total visitor ban remains in place at Dooradoyle

The HSE is reminding people of the ongoing total ban on visiting at the Mid Western Regional Hospital Limerick due to an escalation of the winter vomiting bug.

The Health Service Executive in the West has confirmed that all elective in-patient admissions at the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick have been cancelled for the rest of this week.

There are confirmed cases in seven areas of the hospital and strict infection control precautions are in place

As a result of the ban visiting is currently permitted only in the case of critically ill patients and paediatrics.

Children under fourteen, should not visit the hospital  

Meanwhile,

Visitors to Ennis General Hospital are asked to consult with staff first following an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.

Restrictions have been imposed in Ennis after five patients contracted symptoms of the virus though there are no confirmed cases in the hospital at present.
