Mixed Clare views on “boozy” Good Friday

As publicans in Limerick prepare to break with long standing tradition and religious customs to show the Rugby match this Good Friday, there’s mixed views in Clare about the issue.

 

Many Limerick pubs have been granted an exemption to see alcohol between 6.30 and 11.30 to cater for the thousands of Rugby fans expected to turn out to see Munster vs Leinster in their Magners League Clash in Thomond Park.

 

It’s sparked a wider debate as to whether the laws on pub closures for religious holidays should be reconsidered, but people of the streets of Ennis have mixed opinions on the custom
