The Health Minister has said there’ll be no reduction in Cardiology services at Ennis General Hospital, following fears among staff and local campaigners.
Mary Harney’s assurances were presented to the Dáil late last night, as Clare TDs raised concerns that heart health services would be moved from Ennis to Limerick next February.
Raising fears for the future of cardiology services at Ennis General in last night’s adjournment debate – Fine Gaels Joe Carey called for a review of reconfiguration in the mid-west saying Limerick regional isn’t offering any better service to the people of Clare.
Fianna Fail’s Timmy Dooley also called for retention of Cardiology services and informed his fellow Clare Deputies and the Dáil that he and Minister Tony Killeen had already resolved the issue with the Health Minister
Fine Gael’s Pat Breen suggested Minister Harney had put the reduction of cardiology services on hold for the Fianna Fail Tds until after the General Election, but nonetheless, he welcomed her assurances
